What fun mommy and Jonathan had together this (almost fall) Tuesday morning. We started our day early by taking daddy to work at around 8 a.m.. I planned to take Jonathan to storytime at the Eugene Library downtown (much closer to work than home) only a couple hours after dropping daddy off, so it didn't make much sense to go home.
We decided to head to one of Eugene's nicest parks, Amazon Park. They have a big play area, and the fresh, crisp morning air was perfect for some playtime.
We spent an hour and a half just playing on all of the structures, running around together, and taking a ton of pictures. I wanted to share them all here, but there are 150, so I'll spare you and only share a few. :)
From there we headed to the Library for storytime. It was Jonathan's first trip to a library, so I enjoyed watching his reaction as we walked into a whole big room filled with books and puppets just for him!
The Eugene Library has an awesome children's area, set apart from the rest of the Library (so smart). There are classrooms for special events, rows and rows of books and DVDs, and a big children's garden right outside. His reaction was perfect! He ran around taking books out left and right! And he loved the garden . . . lots of fun, colorful mosaics to look at.Storytime was a hit. Though he was hesitant at first, he enjoyed learning some new songs, making new friends, and hearing new stories. We'll definitely be making this a Tuesday morning tradition. I just love how much he loves to read (well, be read to right now :))! He can't get enough of storytime at home, and now he has a whole new world open to him at the library.
After storytime, we headed straight to the Tuesday Farmers' Market . . . just a couple blocks away from the library. Most of the produce is organic, just like the people of Eugene. The food was beautiful and tasty, mostly heirloom varieties (we came home with purple broccoli and purple beans — two of Jonathan's favorite veggies just in different colors). The flowers were amazing, too. Gorgeous bouquets for only $5! I couldn't resist the fall flowers . . . one of my favorite indulgences.
We each had a yummy cookie to top off the morning and headed across the street to watch a fountain for a couple minutes (something Jonathan had been asking to do since we got there.
We finally headed home for lunch, nap, and more playtime. What a fun day! We'll definitely make it a Tuesday morning tradition.

SUPER FUN! I remember when Maddie and I used to have fun dates like that {pre-James}...storytime at the library on NW 23rd, a walk to Starbucks, lots of people-watching. Love it.
