Jonathan and I took a walk on the Fern Ridge Bike Path (a path connects West Eugene with downtown) yesterday morning. The air had a slight crispness to it, and for a moment you may have thought it was October. The views along the path were stunning, but even more stunning to me was the complete silence all along the route. The only thing we heard was the sound of the stroller wheels on the pavement, the sound of the occasional runner passing by, and the whirl of bike wheels zooming along. It was a dramatic and very welcome change from our noisy life in LA.
The area is a flood plain for Amazon Creek and eventually runs into the Willamette River.
It's home to a variety of birds, and is a great place for bird watching. We had an eagle flying over our heads for a good share of our walk.
Trees are scarce along the route and provide no shade to riders or walkers, but the crispness in the air made the sun feel wonderful.
The plant colors along the path struck me and put me in the mood for fall . . . browns, yellows, golds, and greens (and a few yummy blackberries along the water).
Of course, the best view of the walk had nothing to do with the beauty surrounding us. The best view was . . .
What a beautiful, beautiful morning walk.

Such a pretty place! The photo of the wheat grass is especially stunning! You could frame that one. :-)
