We awoke to a quiet, rainy Saturday morning. We were hoping to head to the infamous Eugene Saturday Market today, but the grey and wet weather is keeping us inside for the day. I'm not complaining! It's wonderfully quiet, clean smelling, cool, and cleansing . . . all the things I love about rain, and a lot of what I love about the Northwest. Since we were faced with a change of plans, we decided to stay in our jammies for the morning and enjoy the comforts of our last "summer" weekend.Since we're not attending the Puyallup Fair this weekend (one thought we had for the weekend), we decided to enjoy a fair favorite in our own kitchen. Uncle Gary gave us some Fisher Fair Scone Mix as a housewarming gift, so we enjoyed yummy . . .
. . . just like what we would have savored at the fair.
Jonathan also enjoyed watching Dumbo . . . he loves Dumbo! Something about the old story that just connects with kids (and I don't mind watching it either!).
Of course, after a little while, he was ready to head outside and explore the yard in the rain.
My favorite part? The warm-up time after being outside in the rain. He's all cuddled up on the couch in a blanket, and just happens to be sitting in the perfect light . . . an irresistable invitation to take pictures of his adorable face! (And of course I have to share them with you — you're here to read about him, right?)
Don't you just want to kiss his sweet face?! Don't worry . . . I did for you. :)
One other note: this week we have been focusing on finishing up potty training. One of Jonathan's favorite PBS Kids characters (Sid the Science Kid) had a whole episode focused on sticker charts on Monday. Golden opportunity! Introduce Jonathan to the idea of a sticker chart to help speed up the process! So, I quickly drew one while he was watching the show and we put it up on the fridge. All week he's been getting a small sticker for going pee pee on the potty (something he was already pretty good with), with the promise of a big Disney sticker (and some chocolate) for going poo poo. I've had him in his adorable big boy underwear all week and he's done great with #1, but has been saving #2 for when he's wearing his pull-ups (either in the morning or after his nap). Guess what he got last night?
That's right! You see the Nemo sticker? Lots of dancing and cheering and chocolate in our house last night. Yippee!
We hope you're enjoying your Saturday afternoon!
p.s. - We wish Lisa and Keith a very happy anniversary today!
