We had plans. We were going to head to Malibu for a day at Pepperdine and surrounding familiar spots. But the toddler had other plans. Instead of rushing out the door to drive an hour to daddy's alma mater, we spent the day doing somersaults and catching air on mommy & daddy's bed. We spent the day snuggling watching a favorite movie together. We spent the day running to give each other bear hugs. We spent the day sitting in old boxes. We spent the day eating leftover pizza in our jammies. How could any day at the beach top that? How could any beach anywhere top the joy on this boy's precious face?
p.s. Mommy's convinced that all of the toddler's catching air and doing somersaults on the bed is building him up to be the next Shaun White. Tonight we watched a bit of skiing and snowboarding. He's fascinated by it . . . and will definitely be giving it a shot next year. :)
