Lately I've been standing On my own two feet
There's a pair of watchful eyes
Staring up at me
I will turn them toward the sunrise
Turn them toward the stars
Where the beauty of a new day will always fill the heart
And give you a life to love
And show you the dreams you're dreaming of
Just let love be enough . . . {Amy Grant, Hard Times}
Today I am thankful to be a mom. What a gift to be able to give my boy a life to love. I pray that I can turn his eyes toward the sunrise as well as my mom has done for me. It's an odd thing . . . to go from centering your Mother's Day around your mom to having it centered around you. I definitely feel that little pair of eyes staring up at me, and I feel a deep call to show him his dreams. The road to becoming a mom wasn't easy, but each moment of heartache, each test, each close of the eyes while sticking myself with a spendy shot, each moment of waiting and hoping was worth the joy I see in his eyes today.
The day thus far has been what I've needed. Jonathan woke up at around 7:30 this morning. Being the amazing daddy and hubby he is, Michael took him downstairs and let me sleep. Little did I know that he would let me sleep until 2:00! Apparently I was tired. :) It's funny . . . those little dark circles that reside beneath my eyes are gone for the first time in a long time. I'm in a bit of a daze, but thankful for the chance to pay attention to my own health. And now he's making me yummylicious lunch . . . taco salad. Simple, yes, but I haven't had one since we've cut back our beef intake (i.e. since we watched Food, Inc. a couple months ago), and I'm so excited! How else have I been spoiled?
Fresh from the Pasadena Farmer's Market Oxnard Strawberries {super sweet}
Also from the Farmer's Market . . . pretty flowers!
A beautiful {even moreso in person} name bracelet with Swarovski crystals, sterling silver letter beads, and pearls from my amazing friend Donna.
And my favorite present . . . a personalized flower pot from Jonathan! Isn't it adorable?!
As I publish this, I hear the all-too-familiar sound of my hubby pouring my favorite sweet treats into a bowl {M&Ms, why do I love thee so much?!}. The boy is asleep, my food is waiting, and my day is good. :)
Happy Mother's Day everyone!
