Thanksgiving 2011

Ho Ho Ho! Our Thanksgiving started in the most traditional of ways . . . welcoming Santa to town at the end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Jonathan loved seeing all of the balloons, floats, and performers, but he was most excited about seeing Santa and the Misses. He waved at them and got the biggest smile as they came on the screen. I knew we were off to a great start.

Jonathan spent quite a bit of the day counting his "moneys" in his piggy (whale) bank. He loves counting all of the different kids of coins, and loves putting them back in the piggy bank even more! It kept him busy for hours!

Of course, when he wasn't watching the parade, counting his moneys, or running around and around the house, he was busy hiding in the fort Gampa built him. It was just right for Jonathan and Pooh! Jonathan asked if he could sleep in the fort, but I told him that if he did, Gamma and Gampa would have to be squished in his bed and that didn't sound too good. He slept soundly in his own bed in the "Cars" room. He loves it!

We prepped for the big meal on Wednesday, so Thursday was pretty relaxed as far as cooking went. We had a chance to set a pretty table, with the centerpiece provided by Gampa for Gamma. We could barely see Jonathan over it!

The meal was fantastic, and the boys all made some great faces for me. Jonathan didn't particularly care for the meal much (though he did eat his sweet potatoes and green beans!), but he fell in love with the "spicy" apple juice (sparkling cider). I lost count of how much he ended up drinking, but it probably equaled half a bottle! :)

Thanksgiving 2011 goes down in the books as one of our most relaxing celebrations, and one filled with laughter and silliness of one little four year old. It was a great day. How was your Thanksgiving?
