Easter Fun

We had a beautiful morning at the Hollywood Bowl, but the fun didn't stop there. Jonathan had his very own Easter Egg Hunt! We hid over 40 eggs (!) all over our courtyard and set him loose.

He started our fine — running, finding them, and putting them in his basket, and moving on to  another one.

Then it happened . . . he realized there were treasures inside the eggs! From then on out, he opened each one as he found them.

The hunt took much longer than we planned (which would have been fine, except the temperature dropped, it was windy, and felt like rain). He had so much fun and found all sorts of goodies . . . Cars stickers, feathers (a preschool idea), a bunny finger puppet, and lots and lots of chocolate. Of course, as soon as he found the Kisses and miniatures, he went crazy. He had to eat them as he found them. Oh boy.

He unwrapped a Hershey Kiss for the first time. There was no going back. We had one chocolate-filled bunny of our own! :)

Daddy made the afternoon especially fun by making chocolate play dough, otherwise known as "squishy" in our house (thanks to Lisa for the great idea!).

And what Easter would be complete without an Easter basket? After coming in from the Hunt, Jonathan was spoiled with two baskets . . . one from Mommy and Daddy, and one from Gamma and Gampa.

His favorite basket stuffer was a pop-up dinosaur book with sound. He wasn't so sure about it at first ("You scared, Gampa?" "I'm not scared, Jonathan. Are you scared?" "I'm 'cared."). But he kept coming back to it, and soon enough he wasn't scared anymore. He was just interested in the dinosaurs! And that's how the boy's relationship with these ancient creatures began. Gamma and Gampa would fuel that interest the following week by taking him to the La Brea Tar Pits.

And what Easter would be complete without a little afternoon relaxing? Gampa snoozed and Jonathan enjoyed the beautiful sunlight . . .

And (thanks to Gamma) got away with standing on the coffee table.

What a fun family day, and a great third Easter for Jonathan.
