Flashback: San Francisco Waterfront

This past August, we got the opportunity to take an extended time driving down the coast from WA to CA. On the last day of our trip, we spent the day in San Francisco. We split most of our time that day between the waterfront and Ghiradelli square. Here are a few pics, of the couple hundred that we took.

We started our day with lunch at the Boudin Bakery on Fisherman's Wharf. It was fun to go to Boudin's, because we'd been to the Boudin Bakery tour at Disney's California Adventure many times, and had heard all about (and sampled!) this tasty bread from San Francisco. From the tour at DCA: "Did you know that the strain of bacteria used to make sourdough is patented? Yep, Lactobacillus sanfrancisco."

Jonathan liked the sourdough turtle, but wasn't sure about eating it.

We stopped at this shop in front of the Hyde Street Pier, and got the only picture of the three of us all day.

The Hyde Street Pier was a cool place to look at old ships, learn about shipping and manufacturing history, and check out views of Alcatraz Island, Ghiradelli Square from afar, and the steep streets of the city.

Right next to the pier is a small beach, where Jonathan was happy to get out of the stroller for a while and explore the sand.

Ooh! A rowboat!

Hmm. Tempting . . .

The rolling waves were fascinating to Jonathan, and I caught him right before he took a plunge. We did manage to get our legs wet with the next wave, though. Stay tuned for more pics . . .
