September Memory: Family Reunion

A few weeks ago Jonathan and I ventured north for a family reunion (the day before we went to Leavenworth and Smallwood's) for my mom's side of the family. It was so great to have everyone together for the first time in a long time. We have missed out on a lot of these get-togethers thanks to being so far away, so this time we weren't going to miss it! The weather was perfect for September - mid 70s, not a cloud in the sky. Of course, it was the perfect time to take pictures. I took over 250 that day . . . the kids together were just too much, and the lighting was so perfect. So please pardon me as I share quite a few in this post.

First of all, I have to thank this wonderful, amazing, beautiful, talented, funny, shy woman for putting it together so that we could be there . . . :)

Pretty picture, and (of course) camera ready to take her own pics.

Gary spoiled us BIG TIME with two amazing cakes that were to die for. He made me a yummy white cake with buttercream frosting (with hints of grand marnier and vanilla). Soooo delicious!

The little man found himself a big bowl of chocolate ice cream and downed it (the only food he ate, by the way. I mean . . . who needs dinner, right?). Of course he followed it with a juice box, which he rarely ever gets to have. :)

Then it was Gampa's turn to shake the boy and his chocolate ice cream all up. Don't worry . . . he didn't get sick. Just did a lot of squealing and laughing.

Of course Uncle Gary got some good hugs. Jonathan's a huge fan of his uncle. He talks about him all the time!

Jonathan had a great time playing with his extended cousins, Emily and Jolee (Gamma's cousin's girls). They had soooo much fun together and gave me lots of opportunities for pictures!

They played ball in the backyard.

Emily carried Jonathan all over the place. He wasn't quite sure what to do about it, but I think he actually liked it. He's still talking about going to see Emily. She said the would adopt him as their little brother. :)

The kids also spent lots of time in the fruit trees . . . one of my favorite hang out spots when I was little. Jonathan and Emily both like making funny faces.

Of course, Jonathan also likes to smile and is getting much better at smiling for the camera.

Jonathan loved having an audience (kinda like having two big sisters to watch his silliness).

Jolee was as sweet as can be (I think Jonathan kinda has a crush on her. Is that weird or not since they're not first cousins? :) ).

The three of them loved climbing the trees together and spent at least an hour going between the two trees.

They make quite the threesome! By the end of their time together they were wiped out and collapsed on the lawn (okay, so they were just having fun and could have kept going for hours more, but the grown ups were all wiped out!).

It was so good to be with family (thanks, Gampa, for taking our picture), and though we're small, we sure know how to have fun together!

Now for some extra fun . . . there were a few pictures of the girls that just turned out too well. I was so pleased with the results and have been playing with the pictures a bit. We'll see where I finally end up (Michelle is going to have to wait for these! :)), but for now, here's a sneak peak at three of my favorite.
