Big Owie and a Crisp Morning

We had quite an exciting night last night. Just when I thought I would leave yesterday's post at the top of our blog, Jonathan changed my plans. Little mister decided that he would walk between the couch and the coffee table on one of the couch cushions. Before we could get to him to stop him he took his first step. You can imagine what followed. Big thud. Loud scream. Lots of blood.

We called the nurse line and they suggested putting pressure on it to see if it would stop bleeding after 10 minutes. It seemed to, but then when he went upstairs for bed about an hour or so later, it started bleeding again. Within a few minutes we were out the door for his first trip to the E.R. Thankfully, it wasn't busy and Jonathan was seen almost right away. He was fascinated with all of the gadgets in the room, so he wasn't too concerned with being where he was. That changed quickly when the nurse started trying to put topical analgesic on it to numb it and get ready for stitches. He didn't want anyone touching it! The next few minutes were long and hard. He wouldn't cooperate, and since our options were give him a sedative and then stay for another couple hours (it was already about 11:30), or hold him down for three minutes while she stitched him up, we opted for holding him down. They wrapped him up like a burrito, and then the nurse, John, held him down while we comforted him and another nurse held his head. It was so hard to watch (especially when the doctor showed us the gaping hole and how deep it was!), but he got through it in no time and even told them thank you for fixing him when we left. He came home and went right to sleep, complete with his two first stitches and a big band aid. He has a red line across his nose too. Thankfully we didn't deal with a broken nose, too!

This morning he's much happier, though a little cozy . . .

Meanwhile, we woke up to . . .

So we're enjoying . . .
and . . .

Temperature is supposed to be in the low 70s today, so we'll do our grocery shopping at the Tuesday farmer's market downtown later this morning. There's lots more to share, so I may post again later today, so check back! If I don't get to it during his nap, I most certainly will tonight. I can't wait to share some of the fun fall crafts Jonathan and I have been working on!
