Leaf Walk

Last week Jonathan and I took some time to do a "leaf walk" around our neighborhood. It was a perfect, crisp fall day and I wanted to get outside and give him a fun activity. So I gave him a sandwich bag and had him look for leaves of all different shapes and colors. It turned out to be quite an adventure!

We started in our own yard, and fortunately we have a few bushes and a tree that have turned a beautiful red and made for a successful start to our hunt.
We then ventured to the big open lot behind out house. Since there are no trees, he didn't have much luck.

From there we started walking around the neighborhood. Not only did he find leaves, he found a stick that he carried around for the duration of our walk. (Fortunately we went during the work day . . . he loved exploring everyone's yards!)
He also found some sidewalk chalk one of the neighborhood kids had left out. Of course he helped himself.
He continued to look for leaves in different yards. Of course, he also carried his stick.
The leaves are so pretty in our neighborhood right now. It's definitely fall!
While bending down to pick up a leaf, Jonathan found a new friend!
We ended our walk back in our yard, finishing off our collection with some leaves from our maple tree.
I already knew what we would do with our treasures when we set out on our walk. Jonathan loved doing a new craft and seeing the results of his treasure hunt!
(Check back soon for a post about all the fun fall crafts we've been doing. I'll have a picture of the finished product then!)

After a good walk in the outdoors and a new craft, Jonathan was ready for an afternoon nap. So was mommy. :) We can't wait to have more fun fall adventures!
