Flashback :: Twenty Years Later . . .

Welcome September! This is my favorite month of the year . . . school buses roll through the neighborhood, kids decked out in new clothes, bouquets of freshly sharpened pencils (name the movie that one's from!), the most dramatic and beautiful season change of the year, and, of course, my birthday month! I thought it only fitting to kick off September with a little "back to school" of our own.

A month or so ago we found ourselves hanging out with a group of people Michael has known for most of his life. His 20th high school reunion was fun. We spent time talking to a variety of people . . . those Michael knew from early grade school, and those he only was acquainted with by the time they graduated. None of our closer friends were there, so we had more time to talk with people we wouldn't normally talk with. I personally felt like I had the best seat . . . I knew everyone there but they didn't know me! Every sophomore knows all about the seniors. The seniors, on the other hand, have absolutely no clue about anyone behind them! I loved every minute of it. :)

Personally, my favorite part of the night was catching up with one of my long-time friends (who happens to also be one of Michael's ex-girlfriends :)). Becky and I have known each other for most of our lives. Our parents have been good friends for as long as I can remember, and Becky and I went through youth group and eventually college at Whitworth together. She has the BEST smile, is always full of joy, and gives the best hugs! It was great catching up.

Second favorite part of the night? When the wife of the guy voted "best looking" in their class fell off the stage on which she had been inappropriately dancing for the majority of the evening. I'm pretty sure that was a highlight for everyone there! :) Overall, it was a great evening. I love being married to my high school sweetheart . . . reunions are so much more interesting when you know everyone! I know he had a great night reconnecting as well.

Happy Back to School, everyone!
