On the Water

One of Jonathan's favorite things to do in the summer is go out on Gamma and Gampa's boat. It could have something to do with the fact that Gampa lets him drive to his heart's content, or it could be that this California boy is becoming a Northwesterner and falling in love with the Puget Sound. Whatever the case, Jonathan absolutely loves going out on the boat. Since it's Labor Day weekend and the unofficial end of summer, and typically a very busy boating weekend (for us included this year!), I thought it most appropriate to share some pictures of our outing in early August.

Little Mister really couldn't be happier. He loves climbing all over the boat, sitting and relaxing in the sun, checking out the little jellyfish in the water below us, and eating the treats that are reserved for such occasions (chocolate Joe Joe's from TJ's being one of them).

More importantly, Jonathan is a fantastic driver. In particular, he loves how the steering wheel has a smiley face in the middle of it, as long as it's upside down. So his driving usually consists of going around and around in circles just so that he can see the smiley face. :)

It's not difficult to know why we love the Puget Sound so much. It is breathtaking. I love the sight of sailboats no matter where we are (if you've been to our house you know I have a thing for nautical stuff), and we were treated to some beautiful boats in Gig Harbor and the surroundings. We also had a great time heading out in front of Gamma and Gampa's house so that Jonathan could see it from the water. The water was as smooth as glass at that point. It was beautiful.

I think it's safe to say that everyone is more relaxed on the water (even with Jonathan at the wheel). Glam Gamma was sporting a content grin.

She even managed to score a smooch!

And Gampa got some sun and had so much fun with his little buddy. He also gave Gamma and Mommy some boating lessons so that we could take control of the boat if ever needed.

Mommy had a great time to. We wanted Daddy to be with us, but it was the last weekend of his internship, so he was busy finishing up (the thought of him working while we enjoyed the water, sun, and light breeze brought a feeling of guilt . . . even if only for a moment ;)). We had a wonderful afternoon and can't wait to go out again (maybe we're out there as you read this!).

Happy Labor Day weekend!
