A flashback post here. Jonathan had a very exciting January. He moved into his big boy bed! I'm sure most kids are well into them by the time they are four, but Jonathan just didn't want to give up his crib-turned-toddler bed. He loved it so much (and still asks for it back every once in a while). But a two-week visit to Gamma and Gampa's changed everything. Jonathan slept in the bed that was Mommy's when I was in college. It is one of the most comfy beds ever! So, he had quite a rude awakening when we got home and he returned to his little bed with the super mega firm mattress (a must for babies, but not so much for preschoolers). For several nights he refused to go to sleep in his bed and demanded that he sleep in Mommy and Daddy's bed. When we asked him why, he finally told us that his bed wasn't as comfy anymore.
His last night in his little bed was bittersweet. He was sooooo excited to get a new, big boy bed, but he was sad when he learned that his turtle, who had been with him every night since he came home from the hospital, would no longer have a place on his bed. He finally decided it was an okay trade for a more cozy bed.
What a sight it was to look in on him in his crib one. last. time. Mommy got a little teary eyed. He was sound asleep. But by morning, he was ready to get things moving . . .
After helping Daddy take his old bed apart and put his new bed together, he had this to look forward to sleeping in . . .
For now he has Mommy and Daddy's old bedding for his comforter, but it seems quite fitting to him. We'll see how long we can make it last. :) Mommy's favorite thing about Jonathan's big boy bed? . . .
. . . a more cozy place to snuggle. :)

How exciting...a real big boy bed! I hope the transition is smooth and that you don't have a little visitor every night. :)
