Evening Playground Time with Daddy

The light of the sun is changing here. The evenings are filled with more orange; they're shorter. There's a chill in the air that speaks of the change of the seasons. Around here, that chill doesn't slow the energy of an almost-four-year-old. And although he's fighting a cold right now, last week he was full of energy that needed an outlet. Daddy decided to take him to the playground at a school just down the street from us while mommy finished up making dinner. It was a special fall evening for my boys. They sure had fun!

Jonathan loves this playground. It has all the right things to keep him moving at full speed. He can climb, slide, swing, run, drive, and so much more.

No matter where we go, little mister's favorite playground or park activity is definitely the slide. He can't get enough of it. Even in the dark, it's the first thing he goes for.

The evening light was magical! What an amazing backdrop for a fall evening of play. The air was just warm enough to be able to play without a jacket, but just crisp enough for his cheeks to be cold when he returned home.

My favorite part of their evening went as follows:

Jonathan absolutely loves these talking tubes. Have you seen them? Our boy is quite creative in what he has to say:

I love watching my boys together. Every moment of their play together brings joy to my heart and a huge smile to my face. I know you can't help but smile, too, when you listen to their conversations. So precious.

I know that the evenings will continue to shorten as the days go on, and I know that the weather will continue to become colder and more wet. But in the small hours, the golden hours, that make up the coming autumn and winter days, we will find time to soak in the moments of play and laughter. We hope you will too.
