Calm Before the Storm

They say it's supposed to snow this week. While everyone around us has had multiple days of accumulation this winter, Eugene has had maybe a total of one inch of snow. This week, however, they are promising a massive cold front that will bring snow levels to sea level giving us the opportunity to be covered by a blanket of beautiful white powder.

That promise was a little hard to believe on Monday, as most of the day was absolutely beautiful and in the mid 50s. Knowing what the rest of the week may hold, Jonathan and I took the opportunity to head to our nearby park for a little playtime. Mister decided to take over the playground. He climbed the climbing wall, the slides, the chains, the stairs, and every other surface he could in order to get to the top and slide down the biggest slide. He also spent lots of time "driving" the little fire truck, spinning round and round on the merry go round, and bouncing on the bouncy horse.

After a couple hours of fun at the park, we headed home for some art time. Jonathan loves his easel that his Uncle Gary got him for Christmas (seems like he loves everything his Uncle gets him). He used the chalkboard side for the first time and loved it. He wanted to see his name so that he could practice writing his "J." He's doing pretty well so far. :)

He also spent some time painting with his watercolors. I think his painting captured how he felt about our day . . . colorful and happy. The sunshine was a definite boost to the mood and prepared us to weather whatever storm is coming our way this week.

Still to come: a recap of our very fun California adventure with Gamma and Gampa!
